NY Army National Guard Capt. Patrick Shuart, Monticello resident, takes command of Headquarters and Support Company
Latham, NY (11/01/2019) — New York Army National Guard Capt. Patrick Shuart, has assumed command of the 42nd Infantry Division Headquarters and Support Company in Troy.
Shuart leads over 200 soldiers who provide maintenance, medical, and food service support to the division's headquarters personnel.
Shaurt, who commissioned in 2010 has deployed twice from 2012 to 2013, he deployed with the 55th Heavy Brigade Combat Team to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as the Contracting Officer Representative Officer.
Then in 2018 to 2019 he volunteered to again deploy as the Antiterrorism and Force Protection Plans Officer for Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve.
His past assignments include: Platoon Leader for Alpha Company, First Battalion 109th Infantry, 55th Heavy Brigade Combat Team, Pennsylvania Army National Guard; Company Executive Officer Alpha Company, First Battalion 109th Infantry, 55th Heavy Brigade Combat Team; Assistant Logistics Officer, HHC 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade; Antiterrorism and Force Protection Plans Officer 10th Mountain Main Command Post Operational Detachment; and the Division Personnel Recovery Officer, 42nd Infantry Division.
His awards and decorations include; the Joint Service Commendation Medal; Joint Service Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Operation Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Overseas Service Ribbon; Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device; Army Service Ribbon; National Defense Service Medal.
Shaurt graduated from the University of Scranton in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a minor in Leadership Studies.
