109th Airlift Wing base publication wins award in Air National Guard media competition

STRATTON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Scotia, N.Y (04/13/2017) — The official publication of the New York Air National Guard's 109th Airlift Wing was picked as the best base or wing publication in the Air National Guard during media competition judging which took place in March.

Judges at the National Guard Bureau determend that The Skibird, the magazine produced by the 109th Airlift Wing public affairs office was the best work in the category of government funded publication.

The media competition takes place each year. Winners in the Air National Guard judging are submitted for consideration in an Air Force wide media competition which include the Active Air Force and the Air Force Reserve.

"It's an honor to have our base publication recognized at the Air National Guard level. This isn't just a win for our office, but the entire base. We take great pride in giving our readers an amazing product, and use it as an opportunity to showcase the amazing things the 109th Airlift Wing and the Airmen here do each and every day, "said Master Sgt. Catharine A. Schmidt, the 109th Airlift Wing Public Affairs Noncommissioned Officer in Charge.

The Skibird focuses on news about members of the 109th Airlift Wing, training and operational missions, and news about the Air Force, the Air National Guard and the wing that members can use. It also includes official messages from the wing leadership.

Copies of The Skibird can be seen on line here: https://www.dvidshub.net/publication/issues/31429 and here: https://www.dvidshub.net/publication/issues/31426.
