Albany Resident Josh Heimroth is Promoted to the Rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the New York Army National Guard

Latham, NY (06/11/2020) — Albany resident Josh Heimroth has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the New York Army National Guard.

Heimroth, who currently serves as executive officer to the adjutant general of New York, was promoted during a ceremony at the New York National Guard's Joint Force Headquarters on June 10th, 2020.

He enlisted in the Army in May of 1997 and served in the field artillery. In 2006, Heimroth received his commission as a military intelligence officer.

He has previously been assigned as to the Recruiting and Retention Command, the New York Army National Guard's 42nd Infantry Division and 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade, along with a deployment to Afghanistan where he served with Special Operations during Operation Enduring Freedom.

During the socially-distanced event where all in attendance wore face masks in response to measures taken against COVID-19, Heimroth had his new rank pinned on by his grandmother Sally and daughter Shayna. With this promotion, he will go on to command the New York Army National Guard's Recruiting and Retention Battalion.

Heimroth holds a bachelor's degree from Siena College in marketing and management, as well as a master's degree in human resources management from Webster University.

His major awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, NATO Medal and Afghanistan Campaign Medal.

He has also earned Senior Parachutist and Air Assault badges, and has also earned parachutist badges from the French and German militaries.
