Bryam resident Trish Stanek promoted to major in the New York Army National Guard
Camp Smith Training Site, New York (05/18/2021) — Trish Stanek, a Byram, New Jersey resident, was promoted to major in the New York Army National Guard during a May 16 ceremony at Camp Smith Training Site near Peekskill, New York.
Stanek an Air Defense Artillery officer, currently serves as the Senior Air and Missile Defense Operations Officer for the 53rd Digital Liaison Detachment.
The 53rd DLD is composed of senior officers and non-commissioned officers in key military specialties who establish liaison functions between American and coalition partner units.
Stanek was commissioned in the Army through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Loyola University Maryland.
She served on active duty for four years before joining the New York Army National Guard in 2013.
She has had a number of assignments at the missile battery level to include fire control platoon leader, tactical director, and executive officer. After joining the New York Army National Guard she served as the Assistant Air and Missile Defense Operations Officer for the 53rd DLD and the commander of the headquarters detachment of the 106th Regional Training Institute.
Stanek is a graduate of the Basic Officer Leadership Course and the Air Defense Artillery Captain's Career Course. She also attended the Air Defense and Airspace Management Operator and Administrator Courses.
She is a graduate of Lenape Valley Regional High and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Loyola University Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Rutgers University.
Her military awards include the Army Achievement Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
In civilian life, Stanek is a preoperative registered nurse.
She lives with her son Alex, and parents Mary and Walter Stanek.
