Capital Region Airman recognized for National Guard achievement

LATHAM, N.Y. (04/14/2025) — New York Air National Guard Commander Maj. Gen. Michael Bank presents the Air and Space Commendation Medal to Air National Guard Master Sgt. Kristina Gandrow at the New York National Guard state headquarters in Latham, N.Y. on April 5, 2025.

Gandrow, from Schenectady, New York, is assigned to the New York Air National Guard headquarters detachment.

She was recognized for Force Support operations at Green River Innovative Reediness Training in Henderson, Kentucky in June 2024. Gandrow provided leadership, health support and accountability of 168 Soldiers and Airman at the exercise, making sure they had a place to sleep and provided transportation to and from the airport. She also created rosters to aid food service operation for allergies and food restrictions and annotated religious accommodations while at the exercise.
