Carl Rosenkranz, a Poestenkill resident, is promoted to Major in New York Army National Guard

Latham, NY (10/18/2024) — New York Army National Guard Major Carl Rosenkranz, a Poestenkill resident, was promoted during a ceremony at the New York National Guard state headquarters in Latham, N.Y., on October 17, 2024.

Rosenkranz is currently assigned full-time in the legal office at the state headquarters as a judge advocate.

Lt. Col. Nestor Berge, general counsel for the office of legal affairs, New York National Guard praised Rosenkranz as a "hardworking, competent officer who works hard and thank you for always being a team player."

Rosenkranz joined the New York Army National Guard in 2014 and earned his commission through the direct commissioning course at Fort Moore, Georgia, followed by the Judge Advocate General's Basic course in Charlottesville, Virginia.

He deployed to Kuwait in 2022 as the command judge advocate for the 369th sustainment brigade, the largest brigade in the United States Central Command dispersed throughout eight countries.

He has served as a trial counsel in the 42nd Infantry Division and the 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade and an attorney advisor at the Joint force Headquarters.

Rosenkranz has also attended several army legal courses in contracts, national security law, and the ethics counselor course.

Rosenkranz received a bachelor's degree, cum laude, in political science and history from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and holds a juris doctorate cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law.

In his remarks, Rosenkranz thanked his friends and family "I am grateful for the people who have supported me in my career."

His awards include the Humanitarian Service Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal, amongst others.

Before working for the New York National Guard, he served as an assistant district attorney and assistant public defender.

Rosenkranz lives in Poestenkill, N.Y with his son Calvin.
