Command Chief Master Sgt. Joseph Cohan, a Bethel resident, named senior enlisted leader for New York Air Guard's 105th Airlift Wing

Stewart Air National Guard Base, Newburgh, New York (08/07/2025) — Command Chief Master Sgt. Joseph Cohan, a Bethel resident who joined the Air Force in 2001 is now the top enlisted leader in the New York Air National Guard's 105th Airlift Wing.
The wing, based at Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh, flies the C-17 Globemaster III strategic airlifter and has a strength of 1,300 Airmen.
Cohan replaced Chief Master Sgt. Joseph Cincotta during an August 2 ceremony at the base.
Cohan serves as the key enlisted advisor to Col Ryan Dannemann, the wing's commander.
Cohan enlisted in the Air Force as an F-15 aircraft armament maintenance technician and was initially stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska.
In 2006 he transferred to the New York Air National Guard and the 105th Airlift Wing.
He served as a munitions system technician and munitions flight chief from 2006 to 2018, when he took on the role of inspector general superintendent and then director of inspections from 2019 to 2020.
Cohan served as the senior enlisted leader of the 105th Medical Group and the 105th Base Defense Squadron, before moving into his current position.
He has attended a number of Air Force Schools to include the Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course, the Cobined Senior Leadership Course, and the National Security Management Course at Syracuse University.
His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal.
