East Greenbush resident Sean Fredericks promoted to Chief Warrant Officer 5 in the New York Army National Guard

Latham, NY (03/13/2023) — East Greenbush resident Sean Fredericks was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer 5 in the New York Army National Guard during a Friday, March 10 ceremony at New York National Guard headquarters in Latham.

Fredericks serves as the senior advisor to the New York Army National Guard personnel director Lt. Col. Mark Frank on human resources issues.

Warrant officers are technical experts who serve in key leadership and staff positions in the Army. Chief Warrant Officer 5 is the top rank in the warrant officer corps.

Frank praised Fredericks as an outstanding leader who played a key role in allowing the military personnel office to integrate the effort needed to account for and pay Army and Air National Guardsmen, as well as Naval Militia and New York Guard volunteers during the state's COVID-19 response.

In his remarks, Fredericks thanked his family for their support during his career, as well as the Soldiers and civilians he works with in the military personnel office.

Fredericks joined the Army in 1997 and served in Texas and Germany as a transmission system operator.

He joined the New York Army National Guard in 2002 and trained to serve as a personnel services specialist and became a full-time National Guard Soldier.

In 2006 in became a warrant officer, serving in the Adjutant General's Corps. Over the years he has served in increasingly responsible positions in the New York Army National Guard's personnel office.

Fredericks has attended a number of military schools and holds an Associates Degree in computer information systems.

His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal. The Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

He lives in East Greenbush with his wife Jennifer, daughter Rowan and son Ricker. His son "R.J." is currently serving at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington D.C. as a sergeant.
