Free emergency preparedness program at Little Valley Fire Department on Monday, October 26 at 11 a.m.

Advance registration for Citizens Preparedness Corps class is encouraged

Little Valley, New York (10/20/2026) — New York National Guard members will be sharing tips on how to cope with a disaster and then recover quickly during a special program at the Little Valley Fire Department on Monday, October 26 at 11 a.m.

The National Guard is conducting the Citizens Preparedness Corps program at the department's 101 3rd Street location in Little Valley.

The free program teaches residents to have the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions.

The training course will provide an introduction to responding to a natural or man-made disaster.

Participants will be advised on how to properly prepare for any disaster, including developing a family emergency plan and stocking up on emergency supplies.

Participants will receive a training certificate, a family emergency plan booklet, a pamphlet listing recommended items to store, and a starter "go kit" (one per household).

They will also learn how to report suspicious activity and potential threats to authorities with the free "See Something, Send Something" mobile app.

Advanced registration is strongly recommended, but walk-ins are welcome.

To register contact Naiomi Gennings at email nagennigs@cattco.org or call 716-938-2212.
