Hartsdale resident Vince Fasano promoted to Chief Master Sergeant in the New York Air Guard
Latham, New York (11/07/2022) — Vince Fasano, a Hartsdale resident, was promoted to Chief Master Sergeant in the New York Air National Guard during a ceremony held on Friday, Nov. 3 at Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh, New York.
Fasano serves as the senior enlisted leader for the 137th Airlift Squadron of the 105th Airlift Wing.
He is responsible to assisting enlisted Airmen in career development, education, quality of life and dealing with family support issues.
Lt. Col. Kris Johnson, the squadron commander, praised Fasano as a natural leader.
"It has been an absolute privilege working for and with you," Johnson said. "Your calming presence, methodical decision-making techniques and naturally leadership intuition continues to make the 137th Squadron one of the best units in the country."
In his remarks, Fasano praised the men and women he works.
"I'm truly humbled to work alongside you and to work for you. The only thing I ask of you moving forward is three things: Hold me accountable, question my decisions, and don't be afraid to say no," he said.
Fasano entered military service in 1995 and served in the regular Army for six years, the Army National Guard for three years and joined the Air National Guard in 2010.
While in the Army, Fasano served as a Sentinel for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Fasano has also served as a police officer over a period of 18 years collectively within the New York City Police Department, Town of Warwick Police Department and City of White Plains Police Department.
Throughout his military service, Fasano has supported many military operations as well as obtaining numerous awards and decorations.
Chief Master Sergeant is the highest enlisted rank a person can achieve in the United States Air Force.
The 105th Airlift Wing operates the C-17 Globemaster III strategic transport aircraft.
