Kimblerly Carmody, a Lake George resident, retires after 24 years of service in the New York Air National Guard

Latham, NY (03/15/2019) — New York Air National Guard Senior Master Sgt. Kimberly Carmody, a Lake George resident, was honored for her 24 years of service during a retirement ceremony on Thursday, March 14 at New York National Guard headquarters.

Carmody, who has served as an assistant inspector general for the New York National Guard since 2016, enlisted in the Air Force in 1995.

She served in the 105th Airlift Wing at Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh, N.Y. from 1995 to 2010, when she transferred to New York Air National Guard headquarters in Latham.

While assigned to the 105th Airlift Wing, Carmody specialized in information management and worked as an office automation clerk and as the 105th Airlift Wing Operations Group secretary.

She served as a human resource specialists in Air National Guard Headquarters. She was also assigned as the Executive Administrative Assistant for the commander of the New York Air National Guard and New York Air National Guard chief of Staff before being assigned as Assistant Inspector General.

In 2012 Carmody deployed to Greenland with the 109th Airlift Wing to serve as Additional Duty First Sergeant and in 2014 she deployed to Antarctica and served as Administrative Assistant to the Pacific Air Force Commander there.

As an Assistant Inspector General she attended both the Army Inspector General Course and the Air Force Inspector General Course.

Carmody holds an Associate of Applied Science Degree from the Community College of the Air Force. She is a graduate of Pine Bush High School in Pine Bush, N.Y. where she grew up .

Her awards include the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Antarctica Service Medal, the National Defense Service Ribbon and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

She and her husband Jason, have a son, Austin, age 17 and a daughter, Cheyanne, age 15.
