The 427th has units across New York State and provides logistical support to the New York-based units of the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.

He deployed to Khowst Province, Afghanistan for 15 months with the 82nd Airborne.

Hofmann also served as a battalion logistics officer and support operations transportation officer, and again deployed to Afghanistan as the commander of the forward support company for the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment.

After joining the New York Army National Guard in 2011, he served as deputy commander for the 24th Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team, logistics officer for the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, and both the support operations officer and executive officer for the 427th Brigade Support Battalion.

Hofmann currently serves full-time as deputy director of logistics for the New York Army National Guard at its headquarters in Latham.

His awards include two Bronze Star Medals, a Combat Action Badge, one previous Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and the Parachutist Badge.
