New York National Guard Soldier recognized for overseas service

Secaucus resident volunteers for third tour

KUWAIT (07/19/2021) — New York Army National Guard Staff Sergeant Arieanto Sutrisno, currently deployed with the Army's Task Force Spartan as the Civil Affairs/Tactical Engagement Team noncommissioned officer in Jordan and Kuwait receives the Meritorious Service Medal July 15, 2021 from Brigadier General Win Burkett, Deputy Commanding General for Operations of Task Force Spartan.

Sutrisno, a resident of Secaucus, N.J., first deployed for Operation Spartan Shield in January 2020 with New York's 42nd Infantry Division and volunteered to continue serving in theater with the next rotation of the Texas National Guard's 36th Infantry Division.

He will continue as a Civil Affairs NCO in Jordan, Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the Civil Military Coordination Cell for his third tour, now supporting the Virginia National Guard's 29th Infantry Division.

Prior to deployment with the 42nd Infantry Division, Sutrisno was a member of the Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry, based in New York City.
