Niskayuna resident Nicholas Pardi becomes senior enlisted leader for New York National Guard Military Police Battalion

Latham, NY (04/24/2023) — A Niskayuna man who is a veteran of the Iraq War has been named the top enlisted leader for the New York Army National Guard's 104th Military Police Battalion.

Command Sgt. Major Nicholas Pardee, who has served in the Army Guard since 2002, took over as the battalion command sergeant major for the Kington-based military police unit during an April 22, 2023, ceremony at Camp Smith Training Site near Peekskill.

He replaced Command Sgt. Major Morgan Cady.

Pardi's first assignment was as an M-1 Abrams tank gunner assigned to a company of the 1st Battalion, 101st Cavalry based at the New York State Armory in Troy.

In 2004, he was assigned to Delta Company of the 101st Cavalry which deployed to Iraq as part of the New York Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment.

Following that deployment, the battalion was disbanded and Pardi joined the 206th Military Police Battalion. He deployed to Iraq for a second time with that unit in 2009 as a squad leader.

His other assignments have included assistant inspector general for the 42nd Infantry Division, and operations sergeant major for the 104th.

The battalion oversees the training, readiness and operations of the 442nd Military Police Company, the 107th Military Police Company, the 727th Military Police Law & Order Detachment, and the 222nd Chemical Company. The companies are based in the lower Hudson Valley, New York City and Long Island.

Pardi served on state active duty during the COVID-19 pandemic, assigned to the field hospital the New York National Guard managed at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Pardi currently serves full-time in the New York Army National Guard.

Pardi holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and sociology from the State University of New York, Albany and has taken courses at the Rockefeller School of Public Policy.

He received his certification as a police officer from the Zone 5 Police Academy in Schenectady.

His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, and the Combat Action Badge.

He and his wife Francesca have three children: Adelina, Dominic, and Isabell.
