Niskayuna resident Thomas Wickham promoted to Staff Sergeant in the New York Army National Guard
Latham, NY (08/23/2018) — Niskayuna resident Thomas Wickham has been promoted to the rank of staff sergeant in the New York Army National Guard.
Wickham, who is a full-time Guard Soldier currently serving as administrator for the New York National Guard's Family Programs Office, was promoted during a short ceremony at New York National Guard headquarters on August 22.
Wickham, a graduate of Broadalbin-Perth High School, enlisted in the New York Army National Guard in January 2013. After completing basic training in April 2013 he was assigned to Echo Company of the 2nd Battalion 108th Infantry as a motor transport office.
In June of 2014 Wickham joined the New York National Guard's Counterdrug Task Force as a full-time human resource specialist. In February of 2016 Wickham was accepted into the Army National Guard's Active Guard and Reserve program. He has served as Family Programs administration non-commissioned officer since December of 2016.
Wickham holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the State University of New York, Cobleskill.
His awards include the National Defense Service Medal, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, and the Counterdrug Service Ribbon.'
He and his wife Amy have three daughters - Madilynn, age 7; Lilyanna, age 5; and Emmalyse, who is 2-and a son, Benjamin, who is 11 months old.
