NY Air Guard's 174th Attack Wing Seeks Input for Hancock Field Air National Guard Base Community Involvement Plan

Residents are invited to go online to fill out a survey

SYRACUSE, New York (01/16/2026) — The New York Air National Guard's 174th Attack Wing, headquartered at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base, is seeking community input as it revalidates its Community Involvement Plan (CIP).

The CIP update supports the unit's efforts to engage with and facilitate communication between the Wing and the local community in matters related to the Environmental Restoration Program at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base. The CIP update initiative includes a questionnaire to receive input from the local community.

What is a CIP?

A CIP is a site-specific strategy to enable meaningful community involvement and improved agency decision-making during DoD environmental remediation activities.

The Department of Defense utilizes CIPs as one tool to foster positive relationships, improve communications, and ensure transparency with the local community in matters related to the Environmental Restoration Program. These plans outline how the public can participate in the decision-making process and are part of the public record of community involvement ERP.

To ensure that the CIP reflects the needs and priorities of the local community, the Wing is releasing the attached QR code and link to encourage local community members to share their valuable insights through a brief survey.

People do not need any prior knowledge of the activities at Hancock Field ANGB or the Environmental Restoration Program to complete the survey.
