NY Army National Guard welcomes its newest leaders

Two officers receive ROTC commissions as lieutenants from Hofstra University

OLD BETHPAGE, N.Y. (06/10/2022) — The New York Army National Guard welcomed two of its newest officers during the ROTC commissioning ceremony at the Museum of American Armor, Old Bethpage, New York, May 21, 2022.

The two lieutenants were among eight cadets of the Hofstra University Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program, which includes cadets at various Long Island colleges and universities. The group were administered their officer's oath and new gold bars as commissioned officers in the United States Army in the company of family and friends.

The new officers include:

- 2nd Lieutenant David Zimmerer from Babylon, New York, who commissioned as an infantry officer and will serve with Company B, 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry Regiment located at Camp Smith, New York.

- 2nd Lieutenant Alan Domingo from East Meadow, New York, who commissioned as a cyber operations officer and will serve with Company D, 152nd Brigade Engineer Battalion in Syracuse, New York.

The newly commissioned officers were administered their oath of office by Lt. Col. Collen Burgemaster, Professor Military Science and Commander of Hofstra University ROTC Culper Battalion.

The event keynote speaker was retired Major General Patrick Higgins, a 1980 Hofstra ROTC graduate.
