NY National Guard will teach free emergency preparedness course at Olean Senior Center on Monday, October 26 at 4 p.m.

OLEAN, New York (10/20/2026) — Members of the New York National Guard will be conducting a free emergency preparedness course at the Olean Senior Center on Monday, October 26 at 4 p.m.

The Citizens Preparedness Corps program teaches residents how to prepare for any type of disaster, and what resources they should have, to respond and recover as quickly as possible.

The Olean Senior Center is located at 112 North Barry Street in Olean.

The training course will provide an introduction on responding to a natural or man-made disaster.

Participants will be advised on how to properly prepare for any disaster, including developing a family emergency plan and stocking up on emergency supplies.

Participants will receive a training certificate, a family emergency plan booklet, a pamphlet listing recommended items to store, and a starter "go kit" (one per household).

They will also learn how to report suspicious activity and potential threats to authorities with the free "See Something, Send Something" mobile app.

Advanced registration is strongly recommended, but walk-ins are welcome.

To register contact Niaomi Gennings at email nagennings@cattco.org or by calling 716-938-2212.
