Promotions: Eight New York Air National Guardsman at Eastern Air Defense Sector Receive New Ranks
Rome, N.Y. (07/26/2018) — Maj. Gen. Anthony P. German, the Adjutant General for the State of New York, announces the recent promotion of eight members of the New York Air National Guard's 224th Air Defense Group (ADG) in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.
The 224th ADG, composed of the 224th Air Defense Squadron and 224th Support Squadron, provides the forces to conduct the Eastern Air Defense Sector's (EADS) mission. Part of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), the Sector is responsible for the air defense of the eastern U.S.
Promoted Airmen are:
--Tammy Weber, Sherrill, to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Weber is the Senior Enlisted Leader at the 224th Air Defense Group.
--Mark Armitage, Holland Patent, to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Armitage is the Operations Superintendent at the 224th Air Defense Squadron.
--Derek Gagnon, Fayetteville, to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Gagnon is the Inspections Superintendent for the 224th Air Defense Group.
--Adam Kujawski, New Hartford, to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Kujawski is an Assistant Flight Superintendent at the 224th Air Defense Squadron.
--Amanda Barthle, Rome, to the rank of Master Sergeant. Barthle is a cyber transportation systems specialist at the 224th Support Squadron.
--Lawrence Brooks, Ilion, to the rank of Master Sergeant. Brooks is an air surveillance technician at the 224th Air Defense Squadron.
--Matthew Pelland, Canastota, to the rank of Master Sergeant. Pelland is a cyber surety specialist at the 224th Support Squadron.
--Matthew Grinnell, Rome, to the rank of Technical Sergeant. Grinnell is a heating, ventilation and air conditioning maintenance specialist at the 224th Support Squadron.
