Queens-based National Guard Military Police Company heading to Annual training at Fort Drum

Queens, NY (08/06/2019) — New York Army National Guard Soldiers from the 442nd Military Police Company, which is headquartered at the New York State Armory in Jamaica, Queens, will be conducting their annual training at Fort Drum, New York, from August 10th to the 24th.

One hundred and thirty five Soldiers from the company will be conducting intensive training on the unit's heavy machine guns. They will be firing at moving and stationary targets from vehicles and ground mounts.

The goal of the exercises is to improve the effectiveness and survivability of crews and teams, while building battalion level proficiency.

Motorists may see increased military traffic on highways and other roads as Army National Guard units move to and from Fort Drum.

The 442nd is a subordinate unit of the 104th Military Police Battalion, which is headquartered in Kingston, N.Y.
