Schenectady Resident Ken Hennessy is Promoted to Sgt. 1st Class in the New York Army National Guard

Latham, NY (06/09/2020) — Schenectady resident Ken Hennessy has been promoted to the rank of Sgt. 1st Class in the New York Army National Guard.

Hennessy, assigned to the New York National Guard's Joint Force Headquarters, was promoted there during an outdoor ceremony on June 9, 2020.

Enlisting in the New York Army National Guard in March of 2010, Hennessy works fulltime as an IT specialist supporting the thousands of information technology users across the New York National Guard.

He has previously been assigned to the Signal Company of New York's 42nd Infantry Division.

During the ceremony, Hennessy's wife and daughter pinned on his new rank. The ceremony also saw social distancing protocols as part of COVID-19 safety measures where all participants maintained 6 feet of distance at the event that was limited to 10 people.

Hennessy holds a Bachelors of Arts degree from SUNY Oswego and his awards include two Army Achievement Medals and a Humane Service to New York State medal.
