Technical Sgt. Ethan Schager, Schenectady Resident, named Outstanding Airman by 109th Airlift Wing

Stratton ANGB, NY (02/21/2020) — Technical Sgt. Ethan Schager is the 2020 Outstanding Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year for the 109th Airlift Wing.

Schager works as a Maintenance Controller for the 109th Maintenance Group. He made significant contributions to the Wing's mission to include deploying for 12 weeks to Operation DEEP FREEZE where he identified and corrected aircraft concerns to ensure the mission was completed timely and safely.

Shager also coordinated with the New York Civil Air Patrol to allow 410 cadets to experience the 109th. He also volunteers with the South Schenectady Fire Department, where he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.

Airmen of the Year are selected based on their leadership, job performance and personal achievements.
