Upper West Side resident Karen White Joins New York Army National Guard as a Judge Advocate General

New York, NY (02/06/2019) — Karen White, a resident of the Upper West Side was recently sworn in as a 1st Lieutenant in the New York Army National Guard's Judge Advocate General Corps.

White, who is a 2011 graduate of Vanderbilt University and a 2014 graduate of Vermont Law School. Will be assigned to the New York Army National Guard's 42nd Infantry Division. The division's headquarters is in Troy, N.Y., but has training oversight of units through New York, New England and New Jersey.

White was administered the Oath of Office by Col. Sondra Smith, the Judge Advocate General for the 42nd Infantry Division during a ceremony at the Park Avenue Armory.

She will attend officer training at Fort Benning, Georgia and the Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School at Charlottesville, Virginia before assuming her duties with the 42nd Division.

White, age 31, is married to Joshua Ackerman and is currently the manager for policy and business development for Bloom Energy.
