Colonie resident Steven Quinn is promoted to Sgt. 1st Class in the New York Army National Guard

Latham, NY (11/12/2019) — Steven Quinn, a Colonie resident, has been promoted to the rank of Sgt. 1st Class in the New York Army National Guard.

He was promoted during a ceremony held on November 7 at the Division of Military and Naval Affairs Headquarters in Latham.

Quinn, who is from Colonie, is assigned full-time with the Medical Detachment in Watervliet and works full time as the unit's training noncommissioned officer (NCO).

Quinn began his military career in 2008 when he enlisted in the New York Army National Guard.

He graduated from Advanced Individual Training (AIT) as a healthcare specialist in 2010 and has worked with the 206th Military Police Unit out of Latham and then transferred to the Medical Detachment.

In 2019, Quinn was nominated by the New York Army National Guard deputy state surgeon and recognized by the National Guard Bureau as the Medical Readiness NCO (MRNCO) of the Year.

His military awards include; the Army Service Ribbon, the Army NCO Professional Development Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal ,the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

Quinn has been married for 15 years to his wife Kelly, and has two daughters Mckenzie and Taylor.
