New York National Guard Sgt. Maj. Ken Secor, Iraq veteran and East Greenbush resident retires

Latham, NY (12/11/2017) — New York Army National Guard Sgt. Major Ken Secor, an East Greenbush resident and Iraq War Veteran retired after 30 years in the military on Friday, December 1.

Secor served in the United States Navy from 1987 to 1992. He joined the New York Army National Guard in 1992.

In 1995, Secor became a full- time National Guard Soldier and served as an administration and training non-commissioned officer, a scout platoon leader, overseas deployment manager and a liaison sergeant.

In 2003, Secor deployed to Iraq for a combat tour with the 2-108th Infantry Battalion as a personnel non-commisioned officer and also as a platoon sergeant.

From 2012 till December of this year he served as the military personnel directorate sergeant major assisting in the personnel actions for the over 10,000 Soldiers in the New York Army National Guard.

Secor's awards and decorations include; the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, National defense Service Medal award, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Joint Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Meritorious Unit Citation, Combat Action badge, Navy Meritorious Unit Citation, Navy E Ribbon, US Navy Submarine Insignia, US Navy Strategic Deterrent Patrol Insignia.
