NY Army National Guard Private 1st Class Brian Rosales a Westbury residentrecognized for excellence

Fort Drum, New York (07/23/2021) — New York Army National Guard Pfc. Brian Rosales, a Westbury resident and combat engineer assigned to Alpha Company, 152nd Brigade Engineer Battalion, 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, received a challenge coin from Col. Sean Flynn, the 27th IBCT commander here, July 14.

Rosales received the coin in recognition of his hard work and dedication during the unit's annual training this month.

Presenting commanders coins to recognize hardwork and accomplishment is a military tradition.

Rosales, who enlisted in early 2020, serves as the unit's guidon bearer while assisting his fellow Soldiers and being a role model to his three younger siblings.

"He's always the first one out there," said 1st Sgt. Francis Kuwornu, the senior enlisted Soldier assigned to Alpha Company, 152nd BEB. "He helps team leaders get the team prepped and everything. Pretty much a squared away, motivated soldier."
