NY Army National Guard Captain Olin Miller, a Rexford resident, takes command of Syracuse-based company

Latham, NY (09/18/2020) — New York Army National Guard Captain Olin Miller, a Rexford resident, took command of the Headquarters Company of the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team during a ceremony at the brigade's headquarters in Syracuse on Sept. 13.

Properly know as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, or HHC for short, the company includes the Soldiers who assist the brigade commander in directing the activities of the brigade combat team.

Miller works full time for the New York National Guard has a supervisory equipment specialist in the logistics directorate.

Miller joined the Indiana National Guard in 2011 as an infantryman while he was simultaneously enrolled in the Reserve Officers Training Program at Purdue University.

He was commissioned as an officer in 2014.

His assignments have included mortar section leader, field maintenance platoon leader, maintenance control officer, and operations officer.

Millers holds a degree in business management from Purdue University and is a graduate of the Army's Ordnance Officer Basic Leader Course and Logistics Captains Career Course.

His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.
