Tracy-Ann Stewart, a Monroe resident and Afghan War veteran, promoted to Command Sgt. Major in the Army National Guard

Stewart will serve as senior enlisted leader in the 369th Special Troops Battalion of the New York Army National Guard

Camp Smith Training Site, N. Y. (05/19/2021) — New York Army National Guard Command Sgt. Maj. Tracy-Ann Stewart, a Monroe resident, became the highest ranking enlisted Soldier in the 369th Special Troops Battalion during a May 15 ceremony at Camp Smith Training Site in Cortland Manor.

As the battalion command sergeant major, Stewart is the key advisor on enlisted Soldier training and discipline to Lt. Col. Michael Bedryk, the battalion commander.

The 369th Special Troops Battalion carries the nickname and the honors of the 369th Infantry Regiment of World War I, the famous Harlem Hell Fighters.

The battalion is configured to provide the 369th Sustainment Brigade with headquarters, signal network support, financial management, human resources and administration for support operations.

Stewart replaced Command Sgt. Maj. Curtis Moss who is now serving as the top enlisted advisor for the 369th Sustainment Brigade.

Stewart, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, has served in the Army and Army National Guard since 1995.

Stewart served in Korea and Ft. Campbell, Kentucky and in 2001 joined the New York National Guard.

Stewart became a full-time Soldier in 2008 and held the position of unit supply sergeant with Alpha Company, 101st Expeditionary Signal Battalion.

In 2012 she was mobilized for service in Afghanistan and deployed as the Regional Network Control Center Battle non-commissioned officer assigned to Regional Command - South. Her section managed voice and data network communications in support of multiple nodes across the combined Joint Operations Area-Afghanistan.

In 2016, Stewart also mobilized and deployed to Kuwait as the non-commissioned officer in-charge of the brigade's logistics.

Her leadership and duty positions include platoon sergeant, unit readiness NCO, plans and operations NCO, senior supply sergeant, and first sergeant and support operations sergeant major.

Her awards include Meritorious Service Medals, Army Commendation Medals, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M device and bronze hourglass, NATO ISAF Medal, and the Air Assault Badge.

Stewart has a Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude, in criminal justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and a diploma in paralegal studies from New York University.
