New York Army National Guard Major Amy Crounse, a Glens Falls resident, takes command of Latham-based unit

Latham, NY (09/09/2018) — New York Army National Guard Major Amy Crounse, a Glens Falls resident, has assumed command of the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment (HHD) Joint Force Headquarters New York (JFHQ-NY).

Crounse took command of the company during a Sep. 8 change of command ceremony at the Latham Armory. Crounse replaces Major AshLee Coye who moves into a position with the National Guard Bureau in Arlington, Virginia.

As company commander, Crounse will be responsible for leading 321 Soldiers who work in the state headquarters. Crounse's company includes Soldiers who work for the two-star general who commands the New York National Guard.

"Major Crounse brings an enormous set of skills to the job and she will do a great job as a company commander" said Col. John Andonie, Chief of Staff for the New York Army National Guard.

In February 1993 Crounse enlisted in the United States Army as a Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) Specialist (Linguist). In August 2004, she earned a Direct Commission in the New York Army National Guard as a Military Intelligence Corps Officer.

In her most recent assignment, Crounse deployed with the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team as part of the Joint Military Training Group - Ukraine, providing training and mentoring to the Ukrainian armed forces. Prior to that she served as the deputy commander of the 2nd Civil Support Team (Weapons of Mass Destruction) in Scotia, N.Y.

Crounse is currently on full-time Active Guard Reserve (AGR) status with the Military Personnel Directorate. She holds a Bachelor's of Science in Organizational Management from Nyack College.
