Oneida Airman Earns Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal
The 224th Air Defense Group (ADG) recently presented medals for outstanding performance. Recipients in October included: Tech. Sgt. Michael Carson, from Oneida, N.Y., who received the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. The 224th ADG's Honor Guard program manager, Carson demonstrated extraordinary dedication and initiative in planning, organizing and leading more than 50 Honor Guard details in the last 18 months. These details included flag presentations at large, public events and providing final honors at nearly 30 funerals for local veterans. Rome Airman Eric Lewis Earns Air Force Commendation Medal
The 224th Air Defense Group (ADG) recently presented medals for outstanding performance. Recipients in October included: Tech. Sgt. Eric Lewis, from Rome, N.Y., who received the Air Force Commendation Medal. Lewis earned recognition for his outstanding tactical and instructional work. Over a three-year period, Lewis expertly worked more than 260 air defense missions, while providing 300 hours of instruction to 26 student Airmen. Lewis also directed the safe recovery of a pilot and aircraft during a fighter emergency.
